Well, a host of clubs have hinted to be interested in signing Wayne Rooney. It is thought the likes of Inter Milan, AC Milan, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Man City and Chelsea are very much interested in the Shrek lookalike. But get this, Harry Redknapp has said in an interview, Spurs need just 2 or 3 more WORLD CLASS players to enable us to challange for the league. And some paper in the UK said that one of the three is, cheekily, Rooney!
Now, now. I am supposed to be excited at the prospect of having Rooney in our ranks, but I dont see it happen. I mean, Rooney is asking Man Utd for 200,000 GBP per week, whereas Spurs have a specific wage ceilling. 200k is just too much. Plus, Real Madrid looks like Rooney's likely destination as it will involve a straight swap with Lassana Diarra and Karim Benzema, who was on SAF's wanted list last season. Thirdly, Spurs will have to let go 2 of our strikers, most likely, Robbie Keane and perhaps Peter Crouch. Roman Pavyuchenko is the fan's darling and Harry Redknapp is a fan of his, so I guess he will stay. But that will leave us with Jermaine Defoe who only recently clicked with Rooney in the England setup with Shrek playing deep. I am not sure if this is Rooney's fav position.
It would be great if he comes, but to tell u frankly, I really doubt it will happen. Anyway, good luck Spurs who will play Inter at the San Siro in about 5 mins! Cmon You Spurs!
